Bikini Body Mommy Challenge Update

by MHSjennie on April 24, 2015

Hey mamas! I cannot believe it has been two months since I started the Bikini Body Mommy Challenge! I only have about 4 weeks left of 2.0 and I wanted to check in with you and let you know my thoughts on the process and challenge. You can check out my initial thoughts here

I have to say that my first thoughts of it being too easy was WRONG! This workout has been very challenging. Each week gets more and more difficult. I was not use to only working out for 20 minutes, but I am working out 6 days a week now which is more than I ever did when I went to the gym!

  • This workout is great for the newbie and postpartum mama because it works up to a faster and more challenging pace each week. Some workout videos and classes I have done are intense from start to finish and I think when you are just getting back into working out this can be overwhelming and make you want to stop before you even get started. I like how she eases you into it over time.
  • TIME: I love that I can do this in my home when I have a free 20 minutes. Yes, when do we have a free 20 minutes?? BUT I have found that I can always find 20 minutes in my day. I do it first thing in the morning, after I have fed the kids, or during nap time and I have even done it right before bed on days that were super busy. 20 minutes really is so doable! I don’t think I would have stuck with an hour workout tape because to find an hour of free time and an hour that my kids aren’t fussing, whining, fighting or needing me is just not happening right now. 20 minutes though seems to work . My older boys go play and the baby is either sleeping or sitting in his bouncer watching me. When I would go to the gym it would be my whole morning. It takes me 15 minutes to drive there, 10 minutes (or more) to get the kids in childcare, then an hour workout, get the kids out of childcare and back home. You are talking all morning! With this, I don’t have to choose if we go do something fun or go to the gym. We can do something fun AND I can get my workout in!
  • MONEY: I also love that you don’t need any workout equipment for this challenge. You do use a few sets of hand weights, but she gives you other options like cans of soup, bags of flour etc. that you can use instead. I have my gym membership on hold because I was not yet comfortable taking the baby to the childcare area, but I am saving so much money that this makes me really consider dropping my membership altogether.

Bikini Body Mommy Challenge

This was my workout area one day. I had to share this because this a day in the life of every mama! The boys were fort building and having story time and the baby wouldn’t sleep, but I carved out a little area for me and did my 20 minute workout. I just keep telling myself I CAN DO THIS!

I have to say that overall, this challenge has really motivated me to get back into shape. I have felt myself getting stronger every single day which makes me feel so good! I have more energy and a more positive outlook on my days that I workout.

Now I know you are asking, o.k. great so how much weight have you lost on this??! Is it really working? Well, when I blogged about this a month ago I was still eating junk and drinking soda. I worked out for about 4 weeks before I started changing my diet. I did it slow. So one week I gave up the soda, the next week I cut down on the sweets and then the next week I started my weight watchers again. I lost about 5 pounds over the 6 weeks which was O.k., but what I really felt was my strength coming back! I know diet is a MAJOR component to losing weight because back when I had Grayson I lost almost 30 pounds with just WW and not even working out a single day.

I have been doing WW for about 2 weeks now and have lost 8 more pounds… When I stick with WW it works quick for me! Plus, I am nursing. I love Weight Watchers while you are nursing because I get a TON of points and really get to eat a lot of food so I don’t feel deprived. Not sure I could do it on the average 26 points since I get 40 a day.

All in all, I have missed about 5 workout days (all during Spring Break), but have kept the momentum going pretty consistently and it feels good! I would HIGHLY recommend this workout program. It is great for the mama who is short on time (aren’t we all?!) and although you do need to change your diet to lose weight, I believe this will motivate you and take you to that next level. We didn’t get the weight on in a day and it isn’t going to come off in a day so take baby steps! I know that is how I have done it and it hasn’t seemed near as overwhelming for me.

I would love to hear about how you find the time to workout or eat healthy and if you have tried the Bikini Body Mommy Challenge before! What other workouts do you love??!

With everything taken into account, I have missed around 5 workout days (all amid Spring Break), however have kept the energy going pretty reliably and it feels great! I would HIGHLY suggest this workout program. It is extraordinary for the mom who is short on time (aren't we all?!) and in spite of the fact that you do need to change your eating routine to get thinner, I trust this will spur you and take you to that next level. We didn't get the weight on in a day and it isn't going to fall off in a day so make infant strides! I realize that is the manner by which I have done it and it hasn't appeared to be close as overpowering for me. Thanks

Missed around 5 workout days (all in the midst of Spring Break), however have kept the vitality going pretty dependably and it feels incredible! I would HIGHLY propose this workout program. It is unprecedented for the mother who is short on time (aren't we all?!) and despite the way that you do need to change your eating routine to get more slender, I believe this will goad you and take you to that next level. Thanks!
