As I am approaching 40, I am more concerned with my skin and how it’s aging. I have reviewed several different beauty products on the blog for you and have noticed decent results with some of them. Currently, I am using EVER Skincare and have noticed a pretty decent change in my skin overall.
I have gotten a few very mild peels, but have been looking into stronger options. I was approached by Trophy Skin to try out one of their at-home systems. I was super excited about this because if it really worked, it could save me time from going to a spa and the money that a spa charges! I chose to try the MicrodermMD which is their Home Microdermabrasion Machine.
What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive procedure used to renew overall skin tone and texture. How do you use it?
I was intimidated initially because I didn’t think I could use this fancy device, that they do in Spas and not screw up my skin somehow. After reading the booklet that comes with it, I realized the machine does all the work for you.
Start with clean, dry skin. I recommend starting with the Sensitive mode to see how your skin reacts. Once you put it on sensitive mode, the machine goes automatically. It shows you what areas on your face, neck and chest to do and what direction you move the wand. It is literally the EASIEST thing! I was so impressed that I could use Microdermabrasion, in my home and it took me about 5 minutes!
Once you are use to it, you can set the machine to Auto or even manual for a deeper suction. I have tried all of the modes at this point, but I like either Sensitive or Auto because the machine does it all for me and I don’t have to think!
They also have an infusion tip that allows you to attach to the device that you can put your serums and skincare into pushes those products deeper into the skin!
Does it work?
I am really mad at myself because I didn’t take before and after pictures. I know it’s working because my skin has never felt so soft! I mean SOFT SOFT! My skin can get really dry, especially in the winter, and it is sloughing off all of that skin that I just can’t do with my regular skin care regimen. It’s actually pretty gross when you get done with a session because you can see all the dead skin that has come off of your face in the applicator. The little circle below is suppose to be black!

I also feel like my makeup is going on better. I didn’t notice this as much until I stopped using it as frequently. I was wondering why my skin felt so flaky and then I realized I had forgotten to use my MicrodermMD the entire week! I was using it pretty religiously about 3x per week so that I could give an honest review.
I also like that if I am feeling a little dry and flaky, I can use it quickly to exfoliate my skin. The entire treatment only takes 5 minutes! I love that I can do this in the comfort of my own home and when I have the time. It’s so quick I can do it right before bed with my night time routine.
I really can’t say for sure that my wrinkles and scarring have minimized drastically. I do feel like if I had taken before pictures I could probably tell a difference, but it is not significant enough that I can see a difference when I look in the mirror.
With that being said, my skin feels AMAZING! I know that it is getting off all of that dead skin because I can see it after every treatment. I also know that it is stimulation collagen production and it is allowing my skincare to penetrate deeper into my skin. I definitely think it is worth buying this system if you are concerned with aging skin, acne, scarring, and wrinkles. By the time you use it 4 times it will have paid for itself versus going to a spa to have the treatment done.
