I’ve never been to Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steak Burgers , although I have driven past the West Chester location many times. It is very convenient as it sits right across from Liberty Center, which is a popular outdoor mall in my area.
My family finally made the time to check it out and we were able to experience their family night. Family Night is from 4-8 every Tuesday night. They have activities for the kids to do and kids get a free dessert at the end of their meal.
The FOOD
Initially, I thought it was another drive thru restaurant. I was really surprised to see that it is much more than that. Everything is cooked to order and made right then. What I loved the most is that you can get any sandwich with a lettuce wrap vs. a bun! This is a great option if you are gluten-free, keto, or just trying to watch your calories.
We took a tour of the kitchen and the first thing I noticed is that there are no warmers. Everything is made fresh, as soon as you order it. This is something to keep in mind when you order through the drive-through. It could take a little longer than most places during busy times because they don’t have a bunch of sandwiches just sitting under the warmer waiting to be thrown in a bag. They are literally making it right there as you wait!
I had their spicy chicken sandwich which had a little kick, but not overpowering. One of my favorite things that I tried there was their fried cheese curds with their famous dip! Ladies…. this dip is to die for! You can put it on your sandwiches, dip your fries in it, or my favorite way was dipping the cheese curds in it!
Their menu stays the same for the most part. They do have limited time offer menu items that change out every 6 to 8 weeks and that changes based off the season. I was able to try their Freddy’s pumpkin pie concrete. I am not a huge pumpkin fan, but this was AMAZING! They use their fresh & creamy frozen custard and blend it with a whole slice of rich pumpkin pie, crust and all! They top it with whipped cream and sprinkled with cinnamon! YUMMMM!
Frozen Custard
We are a big ice cream loving family. I was unsure when I heard they offer frozen custard as a dessert, but once I tried it, I was hooked! It is so much creamier than regular ice cream and you can add a lot of different toppings depending on your favorites.
You can make it like a sundae where you put the toppings on top of the frozen custard or they have something called a concrete where the topping is mixed in to the custard like a Blizzard. They have someone always watching the custard and make a new fresh batch every two hours.
All for the Kids
They offer a lot of opportunities for the kids to get free meals which is always helpful when you have multiple children because eating out can get expensive.
They have a reading program where the kids can read 5 books, have a parent sign a bookmark provided by Freddy’s and receive a FREE sundae or cone. This is unlimited so they can get as many bookmarks as they want and fill one out every time they read a book!
They have T-shirts for the kids that are $4.99. Every time the kids wear it into the restaurant they get a FREE frozen custard.
Their kids meals are the same size portion as the adult meals. So if there is something on the kids menu that you like, you can order that and save yourself some cash!
Overall, I was very impressed with the way that Freddy’s does business and their food. They take great pride in what they do and the food was amazing!
