The Old West Festival is celebrating its 11th year and is including a new arena show featuring Mickey Gaines as legendary Bass Reeves. Born to slave parents in 1838 in Crawford County, Arkansas, Reeves was the first black U.S. Deputy Marshal west of the Mississippi River, and one of the greatest frontier heroes in our nation’s history. This show will be part history lesson, part crowd interaction and a whole lot of fancy and fast riding for the whole family to enjoy.
What’s new this year?!
The Festival will also introduce a new Escape Room that will provide clues for players to crack a safe, elude the Sheriff and pull off a heist or walk to the gallows! *The Escape Room ticket cost is $50 for one group of 2-8 people, and sold separately from generaladmission tickets.
Also new, 2018 marks the first year that the festival will be operated by Frontier Friends, a non-profit that has set a goal to raise funds this year that will be allocated in 2019 for various charity events and activities at the 2019 festival and all following festivals. Frontier Friends has already developed valued partnerships with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, A Kid Again, Hope Emergency and Dragon Fly, to name a few.

I have a 5 year old and 2 year old son who love cowboys! They have wooden guns and cowboy hats! They would love seeing the real cowboys riding on their horses!
We have five kids ages 7 months to 17 years and we love everything. There is always something to entertain all of us from train rides to shows. One year I even rode on a horse mop through the mud with a total stranger, racing around barrels!!
