The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati Acting Classes and Summer Camp

by MHSjennie on February 10, 2016

Cody was invited to participate in The Children’s Theater of Cincinnati acting classes which he started a few weeks ago. Cody was always a very introverted and quiet kid. As he has gotten older, he has definitely come out of his shell, but new situations still cause him to clam up. He really hasn’t shown an interest in acting, but we have been taking him to shows since he was a baby and he has loved seeing all types of theatre. These classes have taken him out of his comfort zone, but he is warming up to them and has started to enjoy it. They have learned stage language and terms and practiced being different characters. It is totally different than anything else we have tried so I love that he is being exposed to this. From the research I have done, acting classes can help with fear of public speaking, communication skills, and builds confidence. These are all things I want for Cody so I am excited for him to be taking on this challenge.

Here is Cody waiting for class to start.
They have decorated the walls of the building with props used
from previous shows which was super cool to check out!

These classes are geared towards ages 3-15 and the kids can learn the techniques and principles behind the art of musical theatre. They do offer a variety of classes so depending on your child’s interest you can choose one based more off of drama, vocal music or dance. Beginner and Intermediate classes are offered and you can choose between an 8 or 12 week session. You can join their mailing list so you can be notified when the next session will be open for registration.

They have also just opened up registration for their Summer Camps- YES it is that time of year again! Sessions do fill up fast as only 30 participants will be accepted in each age group for each week. Click this link to register.

I loved getting the kiddos involved in different experiences and this is truly such a cool option for those of us who live in the area! I would love to hear your experiences with classes you have tried with your kids and how it has helped them grow!

I was given a complimentary session of acting classes so that I could blog about our experience with the program. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks for reading!
