Ride the Ducks Tour

I am all about exploring our city and the Ride the Ducks tour has been on my bucket list! Every time I see it driving around downtown I think about how I want to try it out myself! Now that Cody is in Kindy it is hard to do a ton in the mornings before he gets on the bus, but I took advantage of a teacher in service day and we headed down to Newport! I had heard about the Haunted Duck Tours going on which peaked my interest. Unfortunately, it is for kids ages 16 and older so we opted for the good old Duck Tour.

For every ticket, you get a cute duck whistle (which my boys LOVED) and you start off with a safety talk from the captain. I was really impressed with this because I was a bit nervous taking my boys alone on a boat, BUT the captain reassured me with all the safety precautions they have. They have  a first aid kit on board, the boat is checked out before each ride and they have life jackets on board for every passenger, including infant sizes! As a mom, I really appreciated this! They even go through how to put the safety jacket on so this is a kid approved venture for sure!

We had a BEAUTIFUL day although Cody thought he needed a hat and gloves on LOL! If the weather turns south and start to rain while you are out they do have windows they can put down so you don’t miss out and get drenched!

You can see here how they have all the life jackets securely within reaching distance of the all the passengers!

Once we got going we headed straight for the water and the boys got a kick out of the splashes as we went in. Cody asked a lot of questions about how a car can float on the water! The tour guide did a great job answering all of our questions and telling us SO much about Cincy and Kentucky. I learned a lot of things I never knew which was awesome, like we have a piece of the Berlin Wall sitting outside of the Freedom Center… how cool is that?!

The ride lasted about 45 minutes and we toured Cincy, the Ohio River and Newport. Overall it was a great experience and one that each family should check out at least once! One tip I have is to have the kids go potty before the trip because there are no bathrooms on board! You can get some great pics too!
