First Day of Being Unplugged

by Jennie on January 12, 2012

So I talked last week about my New Year’s Resolutions and as 2011 has unfolded, I realized I kept adding to my list! So now, here I am, (keep in mind with a goal of trying to scale back) stressed out because I feel I am not scaling back enough! Maybe I made too many resolutions?? I am going to try to stick with what I hand in mind and just go with the flow. I will do the best I can and that has to be enough… do you believe me? I want to believe in those words, but easier said than done!!

One of the things I want to accomplish this year is becoming a little more unplugged. Whether it is trying to catch up with friends or family on the phone, texting, blogging, research on the computer, watching t.v… the electronic stimulation just never ends!! I want to teach my kids that you have to make time to UNPLUG from all the devices and just spend some good old fashion QT with your family/ friends or just some me time (yeah, I know, what is that?!).  With all that being said, tomorrow is the first day I am going to try to accomplish this…. I am already sweating bullets! Although I am not the type of person who carries my phone against my hip (there are days I won’t even look at it for hours), I feel like just because I say it is off-limits I am going to feel like I need to use it!! It goes back to that forbidden fruit thing! You always want what you can’t have :)

Either way, I wrote this post yesterday and tried to tie up things I needed the computer also. I am sure I may have to make compromises if the hubs calls for something or if something important comes up, but my goal is to not use any of the above unless absolutely necessary. I am sure as the weeks go by I will figure out how it will work, but for now here it goes!!!

Although it is hard to stick with resolutions.........They make all the effort TOTALLY WORTH IT!

Here’s to New Years Resolutions… making and keeping them!!! How are your resolutions coming?
