Take Some Time to Play

by Jennie on October 21, 2010

I am always feeling as though I am not playing enough with Cody. You know what I am saying…. the mommy guilt kicks in and although we KNOW we have all of these responsibilities that need to get done, we still feel like we are not giving our kids enough quality time! We are always exploring the city and trying new and interesting things, but on those days that we stay home, it is challenging for me to remember to PAY ATTENTION TO THE LITTLE GUY IN THE HOUSE! I mean, don’t get me wrong… we bond over breakfast and diaper changes :) and story time before nap, but there are nights I sit and think did Cody and I just PLAY today?? Or did he play while I cooked, folded laundry, checked my email, cleaned the tub etc. etc…. you get the point! This may sound bad, but I actually try and schedule some one on one time with Cody on the days we are home and it really seems to help! I stumbled upon an awesome website that has also helped with our play time and I had to share.

Productive Parenting provides one new activity suggestion each day based on yourchild’s birth date! If you have soap, shoes, rulers, and rocks in or around your home, you are ready to begin! Our activities require little to no preparation or materials; but don’t let their simplicity fool you!  Activities build on one another from infancy to age five to provide a solid foundation for learning and, at the same time, promote lasting parent-child relationships.  Check out our sample activities and see for yourself why Productive Parenting is quickly becoming the premier activity resource for parents.”

What I love about this site is that I can pick the frequency that the emails are sent to me, the activities are easy to put together and don’t take a ton of time. You can tailor what posts come to you based on your child’s age too! Best of all, each activity tells you what skills your child is learning from that particular activity. You really need to check it out!! Let me know what you think!

Yes, play time is fun.. that is until someone falls into the toy box!
