My 5 Day Cleanse Is Complete

by Jennie on October 9, 2010

I talked about my upsetting cholesterol issue and decided to do a 5 day cleanse to help reset my body! It was not too bad actually and I made it through without any cheating! I kept a little journal that I thought I would share:

Day One: I was feeling under the weather this morning, but knew I had to start my cleanse. NO excuses!!! At the end of the day I am feeling pretty good. Not really hungry, however, the taste of the shakes is nasty! I tried putting them in a blender to see if it would be more like a shake, but it made it frothy and I could hardly stand the consistency. They allow for two bars a day. One of them is an oatmeal rasain and is o.k. The other is a chocolate, peanut butter and totally rocks! I felt like I was on cloud nine eating that tonight :) I am also allowed a serving of fruit and veggies. I had a red pepper and a banana. Not too bad! I am going to bed feeling bloated…. not sure why.. maybe all the water? Overall, day one is a success with no cheating.

Day Two: I woke up this morning feeling hungry. I also felt like my stomach had shrunk. It was flatter than normal.. if you know what I mean :)  I wanted to eat so bad but made my vanilla shake instead. I didn’t put it into the blender this time and it made all the difference!! The consistency was so much better and really the taste was just bland. I felt so much better drinking it because I wasn’t gagging! I can do this!!!! Going to bed feeling satisfied, but was craving green beans and crackers today :) It has been a little hard feeding Cody yummy stuff and knowing I can’t  eat it but I did plan ahed and cooked a ton of food for the week for both my boys so I didn’t have to cook. So far so good!

Day Three: Not bad today. I am feeling good and found an even better way to prepare the shakes to make them taste yummy! I mix the drink and then put a few ice cubes in, stick it in the freezer for a few minutes to get it nice and cold and a little frozen… YUM. O.k. so maybe I am delusional at this point since I haven’t eaten anything in 3 days and so now they taste good but I don’t care! The chocolate ones are my favorite!

Day Four: After 4 days of doing this cleanse and NO CHEATING (!!!), I have had time to reflect. One thing that I have realized is that even though I eat healthy foods (most of the time) I eat A LOT of it. I have no idea what portions are anymore! I have been able to understand what my body feels like when I am satisfied and not stuffed! I am really going to try and work on my portion control from here on out! Very excited and happy that I am almost there!!!

Day Five: Last day! This is it… I DID IT! Feeling good and SO glad I did this! I am feeling strong and feeling like I CAN DO ANYTHING!

So, now that it is all over, I am hoping this has reset my body. I am going to try and stay on the path to LOWERING my CHOLESTEROL! Please send me your positive energy while I am on this journey. I am going to need it! I will keep you updated on my progress and PLEASE if you have any good low glycemic recipes, please send them to me!

Thanks so much for your support!

Jen
