Jungle Theme Birthday Party

by Jennie on February 7, 2011

Today’s post is dedicated to my little man, Cody, who is the light of my life, the joy of my day, and the reason I am happier today than I have ever been!!

HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY CODY!!!

The last two years have flown by (although there were times in the beginning I thought the next day would never come!) and I must say I really am the happiest I have ever been. I LOVE being a mommy and a wife and I just feel like everything has aligned! Surely, I won’t lie, it hasn’t all been easy, but all the hard times are worth it because of the love that fills my heart each and every day! I LOVE YOU C-bear!

I went all out for Cody’s 1st birthday, but wanted to go more low key and chill this time. It was wonderful!!! Lots of great food, music, conversation and fun. Cody had an absolute blast and loved it all! Best of all, it was so relaxing that I was able to enjoy every moment (vs. running around like a crazy woman)! I must say, it was awesome! I really can’t believe my little boy is 2! I look at him and can’t believe all the new things he is accomplishing every day. Within the past two months I have seen him grow into a little man. I cannot wait to see what this next year brings us!!!

Today, we are going to the aquarium to check out all the cool fish (you know how cheap I am so YES I am splurging for the day!) and then out to dinner- just the 3 of us. I hope Cody has enjoyed the las few days as much as I have!! Happy Birthday Little Man!!

Here’s some pics from the party!

This is pre-party. Cody was helping with the cupcakes and I let him lick the spoon!

Cody wanted animals this year so that was our theme!

This is our signature book that we have our guests sign and add a little note to the birthday boy! We started it last year, added some pics from his party and his hand print at the time. I hope to keep this up every year so he will have something to look back on and remember his parties!

These were the cupcakes I made. They did not turn out ANYTHING like the picture I went off of (of course)! The green you see were suppose to be leaves for palm trees but I ended up using them as grass. The animals are molds I got from Michaels. It is a combo of melted chocolate with organic oreos in the center. EVERYONE raved over these! They were a little time consuming but easy enough to make. I might have to make these a staple for parties (with different prints of course)!

Also, if you are really feeling creative, you can “paint” colored frosting on the different faces with a pastry bag! You can see what I am talking about here, along with I really wanted the cupcakes to look like :) I know, not even close!

Say CHEESE!!!!!

How do you celebrate your kids birthdays? Small and quaint? Big and fancy? Destination party? I would love to hear your birthday stories!

AWE there is the Handsome Happy Boy I know! Look at his smile! Great pics! I can't believe your miracle baby is 2. I will never forget in my driveway at camp when I noticed your necklace, and you told me you were finally pregnant! That is one moment – I will hold onto. You have always been a happy person -but you are right, you could be at your happiest now :). I am happy that your dreams are coming true.

Birthdays

I LOVE to entertain and throw parties. Ava's 4th birthday is going to be a carnival theme and I am having a great time planning for it already and it is in May… :) My birthday parties have always been fun – thanks to my mom. They are great memories I hold on to from my childhood. I want my kids to have that as well. I can't see my self going overboard every year but almost 4 years in… so far they have been pretty big. Ava's first birthday was a grill out at the house with a Pinata and lots of people. Her 2nd, and 3rd Birthdays were at CGA Cincinnati Gymnastics which I highly recommend. They do almost everything for you and have structure events for all the kids so they parents can kick back and talk. Austin's 1st bday was a Pool Party at the Wyoming Swim Club. That turned out great as well. That pool is amazing! WIth him having a July birthday all his parties will more than likely be pool parties or maybe when he gets older we will have them down camp where he can invite friends to go boating for the weekend. :)

Happy Birthday to your Sweet little Cody!!

Yes Jenny! Whoever gave me that outfit for him had GREAT taste :)

Amanda- I can't believe he is 2 either! And, of course, I will always remember the moment in the driveway!!

Can't wait for the carnival bday! I have always wanted to do this as well so I will have to steal your stuff so I can eventually do it too :) Count me in for running a booth too!!
