A 1940’s Radio Christmas Carol

by MHSjennie on December 11, 2015

Be transported back in time to the 1940’s when radio was everything! It’s Christmas Eve, 1943.The Feddington Players are in a tiny studio in Newark, New Jersey, broadcasting their take on ‘A Christmas Carol’. With noisy plumbing, electrical blackouts and over the top theatricals of a veteran actor, the play hilariously exploits the mayhem of live radio. To “save the show”, the company improvise the ending as a film noir mystery, featuring a hardboiled detective, a femme fatale, and an absurd rescue of Tiny Tim.

Friends of mine who love the arts and have been performing all their lives, decided to take a leap of faith and start their own company and this is their FIRST show! They have shopped for all the props, built the set by hand and worked tirelessly to put on a FAB show for you with a humble start up. For only $5 pp you can take the entire family for a fun night of laughs and music all while supporting local actors!

I was able to get front row seats last night at dress rehearsal and let me say they did not disappoint! I laughed out loud throughout the entire show- it was hilarious! You start to learn what it must have been like to put on a live show over the radio with interruptions, little money and things not always following script! On top of the comedic charm, your family can enjoy some beautiful traditional Christmas Carols during the show.
