Saving Money at Whole Foods

One of the biggest barriers for people who want to change from conventional foods to organic is PRICE! I get it! We all want to save our money and every little bit counts. I have blogged about how I save money at Costco and Kroger buying organic and now I want to share how I save money at Whole Foods!

Whole Foods has a 365 Everyday Value brand which offers everyday foods at an affordable price! I want to share, over the next few weeks, some everyday items I get at Whole Foods and how I save money-making simple and quick easy recipes!

My family LOVES blueberries. We are pretty much addicted. Every weekend I make a big batch of either pancakes or waffles and freeze them for the week so we can just pop them in the toaster for a quick and tasty breakfast. I add blueberries to every batch since I have ziplocs full of them in my freezer from one of Whole Foods Mason friday deals. Since we eat pancakes or waffles almost every day, syrup in our house is a hot commodity and when you are buying pure, 100% Maple Syrup, it gets expensive! I try to ration it, but my boys seem to go through it like water! I found a super easy and inexpensive way to stretch our Maple Syrup to make every dollar count!

  • 3 cups of blueberries
  • 1 cup of maple syrup

Pour both into a pot and simmer for 3 minutes. Serve immediately while nice and warm! This recipe will last us all week and we are using half the syrup! Plus, my boys LOVE all the blueberries they get to pick off the top!

  • You could even add less syrup to make it a little thicker.
  • You can press the berries through a strainer if you don’t want the skins in the syrup and you get a nice, thick blueberry syrup!
