Today I ate a Rainbow Food Chart with a Giveaway

by Jennie on September 9, 2013

I was SO thrilled when I came across the Today I ate a Rainbow food chart for kids. With the Baby and Toddler Food Workshops we do, we are always asked how to feed picky kids and how to get a variety of fruits and veggies in their kids diet. I feel like the Today I ate a Rainbow chart solves all those problems and MORE!

Today I ate a Rainbow Kit

This chart helps parents set healthy eating habits and it gets the kids interested in making healthy food choices! There are 5 colors of the rainbow on the chart and there is a list of fruits and veggies that match each of those colors. When your child eats that color produce, they get to put their magnet on that color in their chart! It is also great for parents because I can look at what colors they have eaten for that day and make sure that I include other colors they haven’t eaten for lunch or dinner! It is SO easy to understand and it helps get your kids and YOU out of the box of the standard produce you eat at your house. You can check out the chart, let your kids choose some fruits or veggies off the list that they don’t typically eat, allow them to find it at the store and have them eat it at home. Encourage them with reminders that they will get to put their magnet on their rainbow chart! She has some great FREE downloads you should check out, one of which is for those fruits and veggies they don’t typically eat (see below pic). Fill out a few new ones and let them check it off or put a sticker in the box (if you get a kit, you actually get some cute magnets to use on this chart) and teach them that it can take at least 10 exposures to a new food before accepting it. This is great for your kids to know, but also for you! Keep putting those mushrooms on their plate….they may eat them one day and LOVE them! Until then, you can eat the leftover produce from your kids plates because it is so good for you :)

I completely adore this site because there is so much great info for parents and kids and allows for no more excuses in the kitchen! You can change the picky ways of your family’s eating habits. There are so many cute videos, ideas, education, printables and more to get you on the right path. I was amazed that you can get the chart for under $20 and it comes with 4 sets of magnets so up to 4 kids can use the same chart! It also comes with an adorable book that goes along with the chart so it is another way to incorporate the message.

The best thing about this chart, in my opinion,  is that it is such a FUN way to teach your kids about eating healthy! My kids have LOVED being able to put their magnets on the chart. It has been great for my boys because I serve the same thing to them both and if only one of them eats the peppers on their plate then that means only one of them gets to put their magnet on. There have been several times that one of them stays at the table to finish a particular fruit or veggie just so they can put their magnet on the same color that brother did!

Today I ate a Rainbow Chart

I would HIGHLY recommend this chart for your kids and I can’t wait to show off my chart at our workshops! My child is 3 year old and he comes in the category of picky kids. Their is always a workshop in his school and every time they ask to bring health eating food items in his lunch box. I really get confuse while preparing food to my little one. This article is very useful and I will try to work on above points.
