Traveling through the United States!

For a long time I’ve been wanting to get Luke a map to hang in his room so we can mark all the places he’s traveled to over the years. I’ve seen so many of them, even at Target and they are CUTE! I remember as a kid driving from Boston to Arizona to see family in our RV and while it wasn’t always fun being cooped up with my two older brothers I learned so much and loved all the new places we were able to see.

My Aunt, who is an amazing seamstress, made Luke this amazing quilt…

It’s a great idea for helping kids learn all their states! It has land mark pictures with each state as well and he pulls it out frequently to see where all his cousins live! (Especially his favorite cousin Nathan!) Not to mention where all those amazing packages REALLY come from Auntie Claire and Grammy Diane! (Ohhh….that’s where they live, he says!) When Daddy recently went on a trip down to Texas he quickly pulled out his map quilt to see where he was going. It’s a lot easier to see where his family members live that come to visit and see the great distances they’ve traveled and where we’ve driven to as well. It’s a great size for the car too…a lap quilt so he can follow along each state that we drive through.

And if you do a lot of traveling through the US with your kids, check out these great passports for national parks for kids. My mom just got these for us last Summer and they are fantastic, we were able to get Luke’s very first stamp in it by going to the William Howard Taft Historical site in Cincinnati and walked through Taft’s house.
