We are heading out the door this morning to enjoy a few hours at Kings Island before the hubs and I head out to celebrate our 6th Wedding Anniversary. It’s also my mom’s birthday on the 23rd so last night we had a really nice dinner at one of our favorite Indian Restaurants on Tylersville Road in Mason. It was SO delicious and we all were in heaven! My dad surprised my Mom and I with an amazing chocolate birthday cake from the Servatti Bakery and we couldn’t figure out why there were fireworks on the cake?
It turned out to be a hint as to what he had planned up his sleeve next! He took us outside for a fun little firework show for the birthday girls! I know I’ve mentioned how great my Mom is but my Dad is just as wonderful. My parents are one of the few who are still married (my mom was 18 when they got married!) and they are still so in love with each other, which is rare these days. To this day, they continue to embarrass us by hiding behind the menus at restaurants to sneak a kiss!
It was such a treat to get thoroughly spoiled by my boys and my parents for my birthday. Although, we missed having my brother and SIL and their two kids apart of the fun since they moved to Arizona last December. (It wasn’t the same without you Dwan and wish you were here to celebrate with us!) My sis-in-law knew I had been wanting a large “to-go” cup since I can’t seem to get enough water during this pregnancy and got me this adorable 24oz. Tervis cup with a lid and re-usable straws!
What I love about it is how it doesn’t sweat and you can use it for hot and cold drinks….AND it goes in the dishwasher! Anyone else have a Tervis cup they use and love? I use it every day and love it. I am also looking forward to checking into the Becoming Mom Spa and getting the massage and pedicure, boy does my family know what I need! There are so many unknowns with the end of this pregnancy and even though I know the end result is totally worth it, I am getting a little nervous about the uncertainty of whether or not this “marginal previa” will clear in time for me to avoid having a scheduled c-section. In the last two days I’ve had two people look at me and tell me how “tiny” my belly is….hilarious because I feel as big as a house! My only saving grace is that this baby girl still has a lot of growing to do and there is still time for the placenta to move, as the uterus continues to grow. Keep your fingers crossed for us! Check out how adorable this little face is from our ultrasound last week…
I keep thinking I still have a little while to get things done before she arrives at the end of September but with the time flying by and not being sure if they will want to do a scheduled c-section early-mid September we are taking it day by day. Next week, the hubs is taking the week off work to get “last minute” things done before she arrives. No one ever wants to be rushing around in the last few weeks to finish projects. I remember with Luke, I stopped working 6 weeks before he was born and didn’t do anything but sleep! It was so nice to have everything done at that point because then you can just relax. It’s so important to take time out of your busy schedule to really focus on what’s ahead of you and get in the right mind set to be prepared for a new baby! They are pure joy, but A LOT of work!
I am loving having this time with Luke and with him being a little older, it is amazing to see him grow and get ready to be a big brother. I can honestly say that he is just about as bonded already with this baby as I am! I was so worried about the age difference of 3 years but it has been so nice for him to be a little older and really grow out of the toddler stage and more into a little boy before having a newborn.
What is the age difference between your kids and what do you like/dislike about it? What has been the best/worst thing about seeing your kids play/interact together?

Happy anniversary! I heard you guys had a night out…I hope you enjoyed it. So sad we missed out on the festivities…the one thing I dislike about moving across the country is we miss out on the outings and just last minute get togethers with the family. Miss you all lots! Also glad to hear you're getting use out of the cup…yay!
