More Than A Movie eBook Review & Giveaway

by MHSjennie on December 19, 2011

I am ALWAYS looking for new things to do with the family to keep things fresh and interesting. Although half the time I don’t even feel like I have the energy to be creative, I make myself because I know it is good for the kids and for the family as a whole. I came across this great blog (totally inspirational!) and wonderful eBook: More than a Movie: 50 IDEAS FOR FUN AND FRUGAL FAMILY NIGHTS on pinterest (my new obsession) and I immediately knew I had to have it! I love that the eBook promotes great family fun ideas that don’t involve sitting in front of the t.v. because although it can be a great tool to use sometimes (who doesn’t love curling up with the kiddos and watching a cute movie?!), our society spends entirely too much time zoning out watching television (just my opinion).

The eBook gives 50 ideas for family nights that are entertaining, inexpensive, easy to implement and involve all members of your family. The book is broken into four categories:

  1. Food: How to have fun in the kitchen. I loved the ideas she has in this section like the Eat By Color Meal (great for picky eaters or just trying new foods and making it fun). I love having Cody help me in the kitchen because I spend a lot of time cooking and it allows me to spend QT with him and teach him as we go.
  2. Fun: This is just plain old family fun from Family Hotel Night (genius) to Shaving Cream Games (this is great, so fun and inexpensive).
  3. Thinking of others: I love how she incorporates lots of ideas and way to give back to others while making it a family fun event.
  4. Out of the House: Here she talks about things to do when you are on the go. I especially liked her ABC Photo idea. Basically, you walk around a park, neighborhood etc. and look for things shaped like different letters in the alphabet and snap shots of them. Great for teaching, but also fun! You could print some and use them as wall art!

Some of the things she has in the book are things you are probably already doing, but she adds a fun twist on them and gives you ideas on ways to liven things up a bit! There were plenty of other things in the book I would have never of thought of! I love finding new and exciting ways to have family bonding time!!
