Homemade Holiday Gift Ideas

by Jennie on December 16, 2011

I didn’t want to wait until the last-minute to get my holiday shopping done, but with two kids in tow for every shopping trip, my goal for completing shopping early was stretched through this week!! Nothing like trying to finish things up at the last-minute right?! I REALLY wanted to try to do some homemade holiday gifts for neighbors and friends this year, but my ambition turned to exhaustion and I didn’t do anything cute and crafty :( Maybe next year right??!!!! lol! Even my cookies I had from the cookie exchange were going to go in tins to the neighbors and well let’s just say we have already made a pretty good dent in them so it looks like that isn’t happening either! Hey, it is the thought that counts right!!?

happy holidays

Anyways, I figured I would share with you ideas I have gotten from friends and online so if you have a burst of energy at the last-minute you can make a cute homemade holiday gift!!

  1. Homemade Plates with the kids handprints or footprints on them: Add their names and the year for a super personalized gift!
  2. Homemade Deodorant: Ok. so this may be one that only certain people you will know will appreciate, but Lindsay from Crunchy Savings, gave me some and it totally rocks! I have been using it for 3 days now and it is actually working (I have tried a lot of different natural deodorants and most haven’t worked for me). I haven’t tried it during a workout, but even if I can use it on my regular days it is better than using regular deodorant every day right?
  3. Homemade Jewelry: A group of us had a first annual friendsgiving dinner this year and mama Liz showed us 2 BEAUTIFUL bracelets she made as gifts. This would be great for any gifts or a fun girls day out!
  4. Holiday Treats with Holiday Gift Tags: This is SOOOO cute and super easy! This could SO be done the day of if needed!!
  5. Holiday Mugs with Cocoa: Get some holiday mugs, fill bags with hot cocoa and marshmallows and put inside mug. Wrap all in a big cellophane bag, tie with a bow. You can add a cute ornament with the tie too if you would like.
  6. Gifts in a Jar
  7. We have pinned a ton of holiday gift ideas to our Pinterest account: check out “all things food” board- mason jar meals; “Holiday Gifts” board; and the “Craft Idea” board for how to make your own candy can play dough! LOTS of great stuff on there!

Hope this helps! What homemade gifts have you done in the past??
