Jazz up those Pumpkin Seeds

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

happy halloween

We carved our pumpkin friday night and while daddy was carving, Cody and I separated all the seeds so we could bake and eat them. This was a tradition at Steve’s house growing up, but I had never tried them before. I have a subscription to Food Network Magazine which is da BOMB (!) and I found a page that talked about “designing your own pumpkin seeds”.

  1. Preheat oven 300.
  2. Separate your seeds from the pulp, rinse under cold water in a colander and shake dry
  3. Spread them on an oiled baking sheet and roast for 30 minutes to dry them out
  4. Toss seeds with olive oil, salt and your choice of spices
  5. Add spices
  • SPICES:
  1. Sweet: Toss with Cinnamon and sugar (don’t use salt on this one)
  2. Italian: Toss with grated parmesan and dried oregano
  3. Barbecue: Toss with brown sugar, chile powder and ground cumin
I separated them into 4 groups after I dried them. Kept one pile plain and then spiced up the rest. I must say, although the others were good, the plain seeds were my fav. They tasted just like popcorn :)

Cody is SO excited and is going to be tigger! Today we will making (attempting!) pumpkin rolls and Candy Corn sugar cookies. I will give you a full report on how I did and if the recipes are worth trying!
Have fun and be safe! Check out Macaroni Kids Trick or Treat times if you are unsure of when the fun starts in your area! What are your Halloween Plans?
