Now that I’ve got that off my chest…
Since we’ve been home bound, I’ve been trying to keep things ticking on at home and one thing I’ve enjoyed doing this week has been cooking it up with some new recipes. I’ve been spending a lot more time on my Pinterest iPhone App and I absolutely understand how people become addicts – how much great stuff is on there?! I hope you can’t have too many pins because I’ve been going pin crazy – go HERE for the evidence! I’m pretty sure the food and drink category has literally made me fall in love with cooking again. Basically how it’s been going is that I spend all day drooling over these new recipes and then once Julian finishes work I head out of the house for some fresh air and to keep from going completely stir crazy with a sick kiddo and head to the grocery store to get new ingredients for tomorrow’s cooking masterpiece! Here’s what I’ve made so far:
Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup (with homemade noodles!!)
Mozzarella Sticks - these weren’t exactly planned, I had extra won ton wrappers left over from the Buffalo Chicken Wraps I did a week ago and needed to use them up! It’s the second time I’ve ever fried something!
Crispy Cheddar Chicken - another great quick and super easy recipe!
Tonight I’ve got a pan of enchiladas on the menu (for Julian and I, since Luke is still on the BRAT diet) and I also have these recipes I can’t wait to try over the weekend:
Buffalo Chicken Bites – can you tell we like all things chicken, hot sauce and blue cheese?! Julian’s fav!
Baked Spiced Pumpkin Donut Holes – I’m excited about these because they’re baked NOT fried! YUM!
I hope Luke is feeling better soon, last night he was up 4 times with more horrible diarrhea. I can’t exactly remember – I lost count after getting up three times! Thank goodness I have such a great partner in crime – the hubs always jumps up before I do and gets up happily with me no matter what work stuff he’s got going on the next day. Teamwork is what gets you through!!
I do have some craft things lined up for us today, I’ve been trying to do things a little different to break the days up for Luke. I went to Red Box during one of my grocery store excursions and renting two cute kid movies for him!
Yesterday he did feel well enough to move around and play – we just had to stay nearby a toilet! I surprised him and made our dining room table a giant tent by removing all the chairs and putting a large sheet over the table, he thought it was the coolest thing ever while we ate our snack under there!
Even the dogs loved it - but I'm sure that had something to do with the dog biscuits Luke had for them!
I also have our music class CD on from time to time throughout the day which he also loves and that gives us at least an hour of music fun. (more about this later!) Another favorite thing is dressing up his Learning Tower! This kit is an optional add-on if you purchase the Learning Tower and thank you to the Grandparents for getting this for him!
How are you getting through the week? We’re almost there – Friday is right around the corner!!

I could NOT agree MORE!!! I am VERY cognizant when Cody even has the sniffles and I don't take him out of the house, let alone a very social place with other kiddos. With as germaphobic as I am it has been hard for me to take the boys out to things because if Cody gets sick, my little guy could too which can be bad for the newborns (well not really newborn anymore, but you get my point)! I have wanted to take him to his classes as well, but fear that other kids will be there who are sick and pass it along to him which will then be passed to Grayson. UGH! Anyway, I concur! If you or your kids are sick…. STAY HOME!! :)
LOVE all the recipes btw!! I am going to be running out of all the meal I cooked before G was here so I need to start planning some more meals and some more batch and freeze!

I know that it takes more for parents to stay home with their kids that are sick but it's the right thing to do! I really wish there was more support for families to stay home when they are sick!-Kimberly
It usually takes three days for something to set in… so even going to the grocery could get them sick three days prior with out you knowing. I know what you are going through… Austin was up all night Thursday – threw up on both of us and his bed – twice. In the other gym mom's defense (I know you were venting and that is OK) they may not realize the kid is sick… and with allergy season here and this lovely weather Ava has had a cough for a month now. With that said… I still take her out and to her classes. I pay good money for classes, so unless she is lethargic we are going… same with school and Laurie's. And yes I go to work sick too!! I have to stay home with my kids when they are sick (x2) and am expected to still try and "work" from home which is super stressful on top of everything else. Usually when it is my turn I don't have a choice but to go in to work sick! Sucks! I know… Hope little Luke starts feeling better soon! Oh and keep him away from my kids!!! Haha!!
Oh man – I hope Austin is feeling better!! It's never fun when your kids are sick! You're right – it CAN take up to three days to get sick and last year when both Cody and Luke were still so little we didn't do any winter classes and we didn't take them to the grocery store during the worst of the flu season! When Julian finished work I would head out to the grocery to do my errands and lets face it, it's always nice to do your shopping without a little one tugging at you the whole time so it worked out for us. The rule of thumb is if they have a clear runny nose, they aren't "sick" but I can tell you countless times that I've seen parents wiping green snot from their coughing kids and I know that if parents could easily take off work and care for their kids – they would! Life just isn't that easy and we do what we have to!
