We have talked before about Beech Acres Parenting Conferences and how much we LOVE them!!! We went to their first monthly workshop and wanted to share a little of what we learned. The workshop was titled, Intentional Strength-Based Parenting, which is the core of what Beech Acres is all about. It was phenomenal. Out of everything they talked about, the thing that really stuck out to me was the part on “strength based parenting”. They talked about finding your child’s strengths and helping them develop them. We discussed how, as a whole, parents tend to focus on the child’s flaws and weaknesses and spend more time trying to change that vs. really nourishing their strengths. Although Cody is only 2 I could imagine myself coming down on him for the C on his report card and disregarding the A’s. Finding out about strength based parenting has changed my entire perspective on parenting and raising kids. After attending this conference, I certainly felt like I was able to take home many tools for my mommy tool belt! I never leave a Beech Acres conference disappointed!
Kim and I are going to commit to attending their monthly workshops and would LOVE for any of you other mamas out there to join us! We could make it a girls night out! I really do believe that having wonderful parenting information at your fingertips helps make you a more relaxed parent because you have tools to take with you and use in those difficult child rearing situations!
