Stain Glass Hearts, A Valentine Craft

by Jennie on January 20, 2011

We have a cute valentine craft sent to us from mama Jenny. Here is a pic of her very proud son Connor, holding his homemade craft!

STAIN GLASS HEARTS (per mama Jenny)

  1. Take crayons, peel the paper off, and shave them (I used a cheap little pencil sharpener so I wouldn’t ruin our electric one, & cheap crayons instead of pricey crayola)
  2. Put each color in a separate pile on a paper towel ( get like 8 colors on one paper towel)
  3. Take a piece of wax paper, fold in half, cut a heart from it.
  4. Open up, place on a paper towel, let the kids put the crayon shavings on the heart
  5. Place a piece of wax paper over the heart, put a paper towel over that and iron it for a couple of seconds. I HIGHLY recommend placing something old underneath in case it leaks out as you iron so you don’t ruin your ironing board pad, counter, etc!!!
  6. Cut out around heart, punch a hole in the top of middle of heart, place a string or ribbon through and you have stained glass hearts. Put a suction hook on the window and hang.

Another easy DIY Valentine card idea: If you have any ABC baby blocks, you can put them under the paper and let your little one take a crayon or colored pencil and rub over the top to spell out special Valentine's messages!!
