Christmas Crafts!

by MHSjennie on December 2, 2010

We’ve had a pretty seamless transition from Thanksgiving to Christmas at our house. We only just put up the Christmas tree and decorated the house today, and one of Luke’s birthday presents (which we are celebrating this weekend!) will be one of our new traditions: The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition with Blue Eyed North Pole Pixie-Elf! You can find it in our aStore, along with some or our other fav products. I’ve heard friends talk about it and if you’ve never heard of it you should definitely check it out! It’s a book that comes with a little elf that you hide around your house each day and the idea is he “reports” back to Santa in the North Pole if you’ve been naughty or nice!  I hear the kids have a lot of fun searching around the house trying to find where the elf is hiding today and maybe it will tame their behavior if they know Santa is “watching” (well… a girl can wish at least)!

One of my Christmas projects this year is to make ornaments, one for each of us and a couple to give away as gifts to friends and family. I got this great idea from a friend (thanks Anne Marie!) who sells Uppercase Living and I ordered letters from her (I believe it’s $1/per inch) and I found some simple, cute little inexpensive ornaments at Target. Here is what I ended up with:

Super cute, inexpensive and personalized! What are you favorite Christmas traditions?

Oh and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the ornaments! And we got an elf on the shelf. I have to be honest we were a little dissappointed with the actual Elf. Ava got over it though. There is a super cute one with bendable legs available on One Step aheads website with a book. It is much cheaper too. Just a suggestion. If I saw that one I would have ordered it instead – a little more modern. :)

Oooh! Really? Jen here- I haven't gotten one for C yet so I may have to hit up that website first. I know they carry them at Joseph Beth too. Thanks!

Yeah – I did also see a more modern elf you can buy separately when I was at Barnes & Noble which I thought was pretty cute too! :)

Thanks for the birthday wishes! :) We are having a reindeer inspired birthday party – lots of pics to come! I'm trying not go to overboard with the theme!
