Money Saving Monday: Halloween Costumes on the Cheap

by MHSjennie on October 11, 2010

If you haven’t gotten your kids halloween costumes yet, look no further! We have compiled a list to give you some ideas AND how to get them on the cheap:

  • Save some money by DIY costumes! These moms tell how they made their own with items from around the house.
  • If you didn’t see one that caught your eye from the list above, here are 12 more DIY costumes to choose from!
  • I got Cody’s costume at Once Upon A Child for $6! It is so cute and I was recycling at the same time! You should check if you have one local to you or other nearly new baby item stores.
  • Get in on a costume swap! We also have several swapping sites listed on our Coupon Queen page. I can’t be certain they have costumes, but it is worth a shot!
  • Check out your local goodwill and thrift stores for very inexpensive fab finds.
  • Don’t forget to check with your friends and family! They love you so much that they will let you borrow their costumes for FREE :)

Cody was a spider last year for his FIRST Halloween (also a Once Upon a Child find)!

Luke was a caterpillar last year! I found this costume at the last minute on sale for $10 at The Children's Place!

What halloween costumes have you done for your kids in the past that was super cute and easy on your wallet? Have any links to add to the list?
