Children’s Theatre

by MHSjennie on October 7, 2010

Now that Luke is getting a little older we look forward to doing more and more with him – most recently I’ve been looking forward to taking him to the Children’s Theatre in Cincinnati. I’ve heard great things about it – has anyone gone and what did you think?

The next play coming up for mid-October is:

How I Became a Pirate
Book, Music and Lyrics by Janet Yates Vogt and Mark Friedman
Public Shows: October 15 – 23, 2010
School Shows: October 15 – 22, 2010

A local and regional premiere, this delightful new musical is based on the best-selling children’s book by Melinda Long with illustrations by David Shannon. AARRRRGH! Really, who doesn’t want to be a pirate? When young Jeremy Jacob and his exceptional digging skills are recruited by Captain Braid Beard for treasure burying purposes, Jeremy thinks the pirate life is for him. Until he realizes that the simple things in life, like a kiss and a warm tucking in at night are those that are most important. The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati Family Gala will be held on Saturday, October 16 at 5 PM at the Scottish Rite Ballroom.

It looks like great fun and there are also a few other great plays coming up including this one:

Holiday Follies 2: A Trip to the North Pole
Original Story and Script by Kelly Germain
Famous holiday music adapted by Stephen Goers
Public Shows: December 3 – 12, 2010
School Shows: December 3 – 11, 2010

Join us for the sequel to 2009’s holiday hit. Mrs. Claus asks our roving band of loveable musical performers to take the Tour Bus on the road and celebrate the season with Santa at the North Pole – who everyone seems to forget. A celebration of the holidays for children of all ages, this spectacular production highlights even more of your yuletide favorites from this special time of year. The 2010 Santa Brunch will be held on Saturday, December 11 at 11:30 AM at the Scottish Rite Ballroom.

I only hope that Luke would be able to sit still for 5 minutes!! On another note, we’re going to check out the 2010 Sauerkraut Festival in Waynesville this Saturday! Anyone else thinking of going? We’ve never been so it should be interesting!
